Heading east from San Diego about 30 miles, find our beautiful Cuyamaca Mountains and communities of Descanso, Cuyamaca and then slightly down the grade pristine green Pine Valley. Home of a 17 acre park with bountiful recreational activities. Here you find neighborhood settings unlike the other areas in the back country with lots of room between neighbors. The smell of pines and mountain air is what I always think of when I am there. Home to an annual event “Pine Valley Days” during the summer it includes a Parade, Festival, Barbeque and great community spirit. Driving through Descanso, my favorite spot to stop at for a bite to eat is the Descanso Junction a favorite local hangout. Heading north from the 8 you can turn off and explore Cuyamaca with it’s rolling hills, ranches and beautiful lake. It’s a great escape to visit our back country, but also a great place to live for those wanting more room and fresh air and peace and quiet. Home prices are more affordable than closer in and there is a sense of pride and belonging to the residents who choose to live there.
